Bound Gods: Book 3 Betrayed

The stakes are rising.

As the god-son closes in leaving more bodies in its wake, treason and betrayal against the Association is unveiled. An inquiry for the Goddesses has been called, threatening everything Leo holds dear.

And the Chimera is not about to let go without a fight.

Despite the dangers lurking in the shadows, Leo wants his doxie Kaleb to think of only one thing. Him. His training. His purpose. And embrace the reality of what he is and not be ashamed of his attraction to Aaron, the doxie tossed aside by Sol.

Attraction is one thing. Bringing the boy to their bed is something else entirely. Kaleb can’t possibly want anyone but Leo. A lie Kaleb will pay dearly for. Penance Leo will be more than happy to deliver.

But penance for a lie will pale in comparison to what Kaleb must do to keep Sol from taking Aaron away, and invoking the Chimera into a lifetime in chains.

REVIEW:

Extraordinary dark erotica! The plot thickens with book 3 which begins with Kaleb’s realization that he desires the discarded doxie, Aaron. Though there is a lot of sex in this book, it’s all very hot, and I never once tired of it. In addition to Kaleb’s training, Leo learns more about the plot which brought Kaleb into being, and Leo throws the other gods for a loop by making an unexpected doxie request.

This was an exciting and erotic addition to the Bound Gods series. Kaleb is taken to new heights and his limits stretched even further, while Leo continues his plan of weaponizing Kaleb’s ambrosia so no god but Leo can touch him. I enjoyed learning more about the god’s plotting, and revelations about the mysterious monster targeting doxies is starting to give me ideas about where things might be going. Though I felt bad for what Kaleb had to endure, I enjoyed the exciting way that this book ended. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series.

RATING: I loved it!

REVIEW:

Yes! This is definitely my type of book. Chimera is set in an alternate world where there has been a financial crash. Many live in misery, but some prosper. There are men who call themselves gods, and ultimately they have all the money and power. Eighteen year old, Kaleb, enters the picture after his father gives Kaleb up to the gods to pay for defaulting on a 20 million dollar loan. Kaleb is special somehow and the god, Leo, who must train him, is already addicted to everything about him. The book covers the first two days of Kaleb’s training, which is amazing and intense.

This book was extremely hot. Kaleb’s vulnerability and how he loves the crazy things Leo is doing to him is unbelievably erotic. Although this is just a glimpse into Kaleb’s year of training with Leo, I am already addicted. Kaleb must serve the gods for ten years, which I cannot even imagine. However, I’m hoping that Leo finds some way of keeping him. I’m looking forward to learning more about this world and I’m very intrigued by what makes Kaleb special. I’m so glad the next book is already out since I can’t wait to read it.  I recommend Chimera Bound Gods book 1 to anyone who loves m/m dark erotica, dub-con, and BDSM.

RATING: Absolutely loved it!

Book Review: Nami by Victoria Zagar

TITLE: NamiNami

AUTHOR: Victoria Zagar

PUBLISHER: Wilde City Press

LENGTH: 58 Pages

BLURB:

The Empire is sweeping the land, taking cities and towns by force. Nami, a young priest dedicated to the Goddess Ceres, is ready to sacrifice himself as Numidia falls, but his slave, lover, and protector Avan saves Nami from the temple flames against his will.

Alive and outraged, Nami travels to the city of Gran Terra to consult the Great Temple, but Avan’s love is changing Nami’s worldview. When he sees the Great Temple has become a hive of greed and indulgence, he challenges the idea of dying for a deity. However, the High Priest has another idea, and Nami will have to find every ounce of strength inside himself if he’s to escape the Temple alive with Avan by his side.

REVIEW:

I’ve been thinking of reading this author for some time now. I decided to take a chance on Nami since it is pretty short and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed in any way. Avan is a slave who has been charged with sacrificing his master, Nami, to the gods. However Avan loves Nami too much to go through with it and saves him instead. The two flee but realize they have no money and nowhere to go. The end up in the hands of priests from another land who have much crueler practices.

I liked this book mostly for the world building. Though it was short, I really had a good feel for the fantasy world the author creates. Also, despite there being negligible character building, I liked and connected with the characters. As a side note, there is noncon in this story. However, it’s not graphic, gratuitous, nor is it used as a romantic device. This was a great story overall and I would recommend it to anyone who likes dark m/m fantasy.

RATING: Liked it 🙂

DARK ARTS ELEMENTS:

Captive, Dark M/M Fantasy

REVIEW:

Snowmancer was an entertaining and moving dark fantasy read. The story begins when Prince Ilyas is captured and brought to a neighboring kingdom, which is in a barren frozen wasteland. Since Ilyas has grown up with every luxury imaginable, he has a hard time believing that all that they have to feed him is hard, stale bread. Though he is upset with his circumstances, Ilyas becomes entranced with his captor, Jem. The more he learns about Jem, the more he forgets about his own discomforts. Over time, Jem seems to change something fundamental in Ilyas. Even though the Dark God is an ever present danger, Ilyas struggles to prevail for reasons far bigger than the preservation of his life.

I loved the world building in this book and I especially enjoyed the change in Ilyas’s character. Ilyas starts off as a prince who is arrogant and used to having his way. He has trouble recognizing the suffering and hunger of the people around him and only realizes their suffering when it is pointed out to him. However, as the book progresses and Ilyas starts to fall for Jem, Ilyas becomes less self-centered. There is finally someone in the world that he cares for more than himself. I think that change was what really drew me in. I went from wishing bad things on Ilyas to rooting for him. Though I loved the dark world the author creates, I was a little thrown off by the magical aspects and especially the magic used in the end. Even though this threw me for a loop, it didn’t take away from the story in any way. I recommend Snowmancer to anyone who loves M/M dark fantasy, M/M Slave themes, & M/M Romance.

RATING: I liked it!
