AUTHOR:  Meraki P. Lyhne

LENGTH: 299 Pages

Business school is not for Daniel. Not after making the cover of Teen Model. The only problem is that his parents don’t agree, and Daniel skips school to set his plans for fortune and fame in motion. Meeting the award-winning photographer Heimli will change his life, but not in the ways the nineteen-year-old young man expects.

At the age of four hundred thirty-six, Seldon has fed on more beautiful men than he can remember. Living in seclusion from the human world, humans are brought to the Incubi and Succubi as slaves to feed on. Amongst these slaves are the rare Untouchables. When Seldon is entrusted with the safekeeping of one, he has his work cut out for him—especially since this Untouchable gets on his nerves. And under his skin.

REVIEW:

First of all, I just have to say that I am quite fond of incubus story-lines, so this book started out on the right track for me. The story begins when the young model, Daniel, decides he’s going to go get discovered. He’s fed up with his parents talking about him going to college since he’s sure his looks can get him everything including fame. However, instead of landing a modeling job, Daniel is captured by a group of incubi. He quickly discovers that he is considered an untouchable, which means he doesn’t get worked over like some of the other less fortunate young captives. Even so, the fear of what could happen to him almost puts him over the edge.

Though this is the first book I’ve read from Meraki P. Lyhne, I had the pleasure of meeting the author this summer in Berlin, so I had a good idea about what to expect. All of the wonderful dark themes that I love so much were present in this book as well as a good healthy dose m/m/m erotica. I think the thing I loved the most was the sexual denial. Daniel, is deliberately excluded from all the incubus feeding going on in front of him. He considers himself straight, but after a while, he can’t deny being turned on by everything his captor does with other men. I wasn’t sure how things would play out for Daniel, so I was a bit shocked by the twist in the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

5 Star Review + Blog Tour: Interborough by Santino Hassell @SantinoHassell #MM #Erotica

interborough_tourbannerInterborough (Five Boroughs #4)

by Santino Hassell

The Raymond Rodriguez from a few years ago wouldn’t recognize the guy he is today. He’s left his slacker ways far behind him and is now juggling two jobs and school. But the balancing act doesn’t allow much time for the man he loves.

David is doing his best to be supportive, but problems at work and his own insecurity leave him frustrated—in more ways than the obvious—whenever he goes to bed before Raymond gets home. The heat and affection between them is still there, but they barely have the time or energy to enjoy it. And it doesn’t help that Raymond is still hiding David from his colleagues.

The stress mounts so high that a vacation in paradise is filled with turmoil instead of harmony, and culminates on their return to the five boroughs with broken promises and heartache. They have to figure out how to stop allowing their differences to overshadow their love. It’s the only way they’ll make it to forever.

Review

This books was another awesome installment of the Five Boroughs series. I absolutely loved returning to this couple. The story starts out with Raymond and David being somewhat on the rocks in their relationship. David’s insecurities about the lack of attention from Raymond get the best of him. He falls deeper in the bottle but Raymond fails to see his perspective since he’s just trying to make it with everything he has on his plate. Though he’s in love with David, he still cannot bring himself to come out to everyone he knows, which David has trouble accepting. When one of Raymond’s colleges seems a bit to cozy with Raymond, David nearly goes out of his mind.

There’s quite a bit of heartache, as well as extremely erotic sex in this book. The chemistry between David and Raymond is just out of this world. Despite David’s neediness and insecurities he hast to be the most beautiful thing imaginable. I loved the way Raymond comes undone when things start to crumble between them. Though their situation seems impossible, somehow they find a way through it all. With one more book to go in this series, I really hope too see more of this couple. I recommend Interborough to anyone who loves MM Erotica and MM Romance.

My Rating: I loved it!

Review: Coach’s Boy (Settling the Score #4) by Josh Hunter #MM #BDSM

REVIEWED BY LARK

TITLE: Coach’s BoyThe Coach's Boy (Settling the Score #4)

SERIES: Settling the Score #4

AUTHOR: Josh Hunter

PUBLISHER: Pyramid Press

LENGTH: 60 pages

BLURB: Things are getting complicated for high school quarterback Wade Johnson.

Up until last week, everything in life had come easily for the golden boy athlete– football, girls, friends. So what if he was a little rough on Kevin, the gay guy in his class? Isn’t every jock supposed to pick on “queers”?

Now Wade is learning his lesson the hard way. Ever since Kevin got his hands on that video, Wade has been at Kevin’s mercy… and at his service. Wade has had to do things that he swore he never would. But the worst part is that he’s starting to like it. Wade’s gotten a taste for something that he can’t get from this cheerleader girlfriend.

But that may be the least of the straight stud’s problems. Because Kevin’s not the only one who’s found leverage on Wade.

And if Wade thought his coach was hard on him before, he has no idea what’s coming.

(First time BDSM gay erotic romance. All characters 18+)

REVIEW: I ran out of pages before I was ready for this installment of Settling the Score to end. If ever I thought this was just a take on the familiar revenge story, I was proven wrong in Coach’s Boy. Hunter keeps up with the relentless sexual exploitation of Wade, the star quarterback, but as the title and blurb indicate, he’s not only Kev’s toy anymore. Wade and Kev’s story takes a surprising but enjoyable turn as revenge turns into something a little more, but that’s not the only problem Wade has.

One of the many things I like about this series is the way the characters are written. They’re not the wooden characters you might expect from an erotic revenge series centered around blackmail — and if you go in expecting that, be prepared for a shock. There’s a definite story that’s progressing, and it’s very well-written.

Despite the way things are changing, Kev doesn’t let up on Wade — and now we have the coach, who insists on owning Wade’s ass. There’s a distinct dynamic between how Kev and the coach handle Wade, and I’m really enjoying seeing it progress.

And have I mentioned it’s hot? On to the next, because I can’t seem to put these series down.

TITLE: Blackmailed!Blackmailed! (Settling the Score #2)

SERIES:  Settling the Score #2

AUTHOR:  Josh Hunter

PUBLISHER: Pyramid Press

LENGTH: 22 pages

BLURB: Obedience training for a bully…

Wade Johnson is the golden boy jock at our school, the star quarterback– and a total jerk. He started calling me a “queer” back in ninth grade, and he and his football goons have been hassling me every day since.

But now I’ve got something to keep Wade in line– a video that could destroy his social life and end his football playing days for good.

You’d think Wade would keep that in mind, and try to stay on my good side. Play nice. Keep the other jocks from messing with me. But Wade’s not that smart.

At school, he’s still the same homophobic bully he’s always been. So after school, he has to make it up to me.

It’s almost like that guy wants to be punished.

(First time gay BDSM erotic romance. All characters are 18 and over.)

REVIEW: The football players in this story are arrogant and entitled — and according to the school, they have every reason to be. That means that no matter who they choose to pick on, it’s up in the air as to whether or not anyone will actually stop them. Kev has what could be the perfect solution, if only his blackmailed football player would stand up for him. Unfortunately for him, it seems like Wade needs a few reminders as to just who’s in charge.

I really liked the first installment in this series, but I think Part 2: Blackmailed! was even better. Kev starts to get creative with just how he’s going to teach Wade a lesson, which makes it hotter and hotter, and I found myself rereading a few sections. For… research, of course. It was nice to see Wade’s reaction when he finally found something that reached his limits, though his reaction to just how Kev handles it when he balks was fantastic.

I don’t want to give away spoilers, because I enjoyed being surprised by just what happened. Suffice it to say that it gave a nice dose of kink and an idea of just where Kev might go next to keep his football player in line. Well-written and another enjoyable dose of Kev and Wade. I’m already ready to go straight into the next one. (Well. Straight. You know. ;-)) This might be short, but it packs a hell of a punch.

After he picks up a young ex-con named Jaye Larson for stealing food, Dixon is seduced by the possibility of helping someone truly in need. But temptation entangles them as the malicious ghosts of Jaye’s past returns to haunt their every step. Jaye’s ghosts are bad enough, but the demon from Dixon’s past is real enough to put both of their lives in danger. (M/M)

REVIEW:

Absolutely beautiful! Arctic Absolution begins when the Alaskan cop, Dixon, responds to a robbery at a convenience store. However, when he arrives on the scene, he finds the slim, beautiful Jaye who looks like a teen. Jaye is an x-con with a gang tattoo on his face. Though he looks like trouble, Dixon is drawn to him and also wants to help him. As their lives become entwined, Jaye learns about Dixon’s abusive x-boyfriend, Marcus, and Dixon’s fear of Marcus alights something in Jaye. He can’t stand that someone hurt Dixon in the same way Jaye had been hurt.

This book was unbelievably hot and just so damn beautiful! The first time Jaye and Dixon were together was breathtaking and heartbreaking all at once. Having read Caged Jay prior to reading this book, I could really sympathize with Jaye and all that he’d gone through in prison. It broke my heart that he escaped that hell just to freeze and starve all alone in his cabin, where he was still being haunted by his ghosts. That Dixon came into his life and extended a hand to help him was just perfect and made me love Dixon right away. After reading Caged Jay and seeing how badly they broke Jaye in prison, I really enjoyed how Jaye is built up in this book. It was also perfect that Jaye found someone who is just as broken as him. Jaye is so protective of Dixon even though Dixon is older and a cop. I love everything about this series. I look forward to reading the next book. I recommend Arctic Absolution to anyone who loves m/m romance with violence and dark themes.

Review: Risk Aware by Amelia C. Gormley #MM #BDSM #NewRelease

TITLE: Risk AwareRisk Aware

AUTHOR:  Amelia C. Gormley

PUBLISHER: Riptide Publishing

LENGTH: 323 Pages

BLURB:

Tattoo artist Geoff Gilchrest is convinced his life is some sort of cosmic joke. Why else would a hemophiliac also be a masochist? He’s given himself more than one elbow bleed since puberty just doing what guys do when alone and bored, so forget about whips and chains. How many partners would contemplate playing with someone even a mild flogging could kill?

Gallery owner Robin Brady knows he can deliver what Geoff needs: to be taken to the edge of danger but never beyond. But Robin came to Saugatuck to get away from the leather scene and heal from a betrayal by his former sub, so he’s not sure he should get involved with Geoff. His ambivalence isn’t helped by the fact that Geoff’s unwillingness to communicate about his well-being hits Robin in some very raw places.

Geoff’s hemophilia isn’t the obstacle he thinks it is. Instead, a lack of trust—on both their parts—is what could end them before they have a chance to begin.

Goodreads Link

REVIEW:

This was the first book I’ve read by Amelia C. Gormley, and I wasn’t at all disappointed. Risk Aware begins when the hemophiliac, Geoff, who is also a masochist is at a leather club/resort dreaming of all the things he wants a dom to do to him. He knows all he can do is dream since any strike to his body will likely start internal bleeding that wouldn’t stop and may lead to his death. However, Geoff grew up with his mother treating him like a china doll, and he wishes he could just let go and have the pain he craves. When Geoff meets Robin, his dreams appear to be coming true. He can trust Robin to touch him in the right ways, being just rough enough to alight his fantasies without putting him in danger of starting a bleed.

I have to admit that I approached this book with caution. I’m not a huge fan of needles and the sight of blood used to make me faint. So, reading a book about a masochistic hemophiliac had me cringing before I even read the first page. Despite my caution and reservations, I read this novel without crawling out of my skin. There were some scenes with needle play that I tried not to visualize too much, but other than that I was able to enjoy this book with a minimal amount of cringing. Though Geoff and Robin had to tone down what they were able to do in the bedroom, the scenes were all very hot. There was always the fear of Geoff braking somehow, and even though they had to be extremely careful, they did get a little rough at times which had me on edge. Overall, this novel was romantic, hot, and laced with plenty of danger. I can’t say I’ve read a BDSM book before where the stakes were so high and each scene could be a matter of life or death. I recommend Risk Aware to anyone who enjoys BDSM, medical play, and m/m romance.

Attraction is one thing. Bringing the boy to their bed is something else entirely. Kaleb can’t possibly want anyone but Leo. A lie Kaleb will pay dearly for. Penance Leo will be more than happy to deliver.

But penance for a lie will pale in comparison to what Kaleb must do to keep Sol from taking Aaron away, and invoking the Chimera into a lifetime in chains.

REVIEW:

Extraordinary dark erotica! The plot thickens with book 3 which begins with Kaleb’s realization that he desires the discarded doxie, Aaron. Though there is a lot of sex in this book, it’s all very hot, and I never once tired of it. In addition to Kaleb’s training, Leo learns more about the plot which brought Kaleb into being, and Leo throws the other gods for a loop by making an unexpected doxie request.

This was an exciting and erotic addition to the Bound Gods series. Kaleb is taken to new heights and his limits stretched even further, while Leo continues his plan of weaponizing Kaleb’s ambrosia so no god but Leo can touch him. I enjoyed learning more about the god’s plotting, and revelations about the mysterious monster targeting doxies is starting to give me ideas about where things might be going. Though I felt bad for what Kaleb had to endure, I enjoyed the exciting way that this book ended. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series.

Novella (23 000 words)
Genre(s): Out for you, Contemporary, Romance, Erotica

All James wanted was a little solitude at his favourite resort: bright sunshine overhead, soft, white sand underfoot, and a hammock to read in while the warm breeze rustles through the coconut palms and almond trees. However, when an old acquaintance shows up, and James is obliged to share “his” beach, a profound exchange over a bottle of rum leads to a lust-fuelled encounter in the dark.

Reeling from the intensity of the drunken tryst, James decides to cut his vacation short rather than face what he’s kept hidden under mountains of denial.

However, his escape is thwarted when Rudie, handsome and plainspoken, calls him out on his behaviour and makes him see that life needn’t be spent running away from his desires.

Set at a rundown old resort on a small Caribbean island, The Last Nights of The Frangipani Hotel is a story about letting go of fear and learning that passion and love can be found in the most unexpected of places.

Goodreads Link

REVIEW:

This book really pulled on my heart strings. It was hot, but also so very romantic. The story begins when James realizes he’s sharing his secluded beach with another guy, Rudie, who happens to be an actor like himself. He’s irritated at first but after drinking and reminiscing, they end up in bed together. James feels bad about it afterward. He’s had encounters with men before, but he’s far from being out and still feels guilty. Rudie puts him at ease and helps James to feel more comfortable about himself and his sexuality. Their vacation is highly erotic, but also changes something fundamental in James.

This is the type of book that when you put it down, you just can’t read anything else for a while. It gave me such a warm feeling that I wanted the story not to end. I loved how James grew and how he learned to accept himself, and I especially loved the ending. I really was worried for a while about how things would turn out, but with how it ended, I couldn’t ask for anything better. This book was a standalone, but there was a nice little tie in with the first book in this series that made me smile. Though I started reading Bey Deckard’s books for the dark fantasy aspects, I admit to being equally enthralled with his romantic works. I look forward to reading future installments of The Actor’s Circle. I recommend this book to anyone who loves coming out/self-discovery themes and m/m romance.
