ARe up in Flames! ~ Download your eBooks Now!!! (Site closes 31 Dec 16)

areIf you haven’t already heard, All Romance eBooks has just announced that they are going out of business on 31 December 2016 and giving readers a very small window of opportunity to download their books. That’s right, you only have three more days to download the books in your libraries.

If this seems unfair and like thievery, well you’re not alone in feeling so. Not everyone will have time to download all the books they purchased. Plus, ARe is only paying authors 10 cents on the dollar for the books they sold in the last four months.

Advice for Authors: Inactivate your books to avoid any additional sales ,but do not remove the files since this will remove the book from people’s libraries.

Advice for Everyone: Spread the word about ARe’s closure so that as many people as possible can gather their books off the site. If you are loosing money from purchases or advertising, do not go quietly. ARe was actively selling advertisement spots for 2017 up to five days before their announced closure, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a lawsuit. However, in the meantime U.S. residents can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Synopsis

— The lumberjack of his dreams is now available for rent. —

Mr. B has always been a safe guy for Jo to crush on. He’s the cutest bearded lumber-god to salivate over. Add to that his friendly, outgoing personality, and Mr. B might just be the first guy Jo would be willing to kiss. Fortunately, Mr. B has been in a relationship for years, and Jo is no home-wrecker.

But when Mr. B breaks up with his partner and all of a sudden is single, available, and talks about his plans to be sexually adventurous, Jo isn’t so sure anymore if he has the guts to come out as bisexual.

After a sour breakup, Mr. B wants to show his ex that he’s independent, exciting, and can do very well without him. His best friend Jo is there to the rescue, and they come up with a great new business venture. One thing they lack to start their own line of artisanal boozy jams – money for the investment.

After a drunken brainstorming session, Mr. B finds a way to both gather the cash and show the middle finger to his ex. He will create a one of a kind Hipster Brothel – The Lumbersexual Experience – offering wood chopping lessons, pipe smoking, and a reclaimed wood bed where the magic would happen. It’s bound to be a success… if only Mr. B can go through with it, because the mixed signals from Jo are making him wonder if his best friend is as straight as he always seemed.

WARNING: Explicit content, strong language. A shameless amount of buzzwords. May cause second-hand embarrassment.

Meet the Author

K.A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are mistaken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite being over thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.

They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.

Review: Untouchable Beauty (The Cubi #1) by Meraki P. Lyhne #DarkErotica #MM

TITLE: Untouchable Beauty Untouchable Beauty (The Cubi, #1)

SERIES: The Cubi #1

AUTHOR:  Meraki P. Lyhne

PUBLISHER: Independent

LENGTH: 299 Pages

BLURB:

Business school is not for Daniel. Not after making the cover of Teen Model. The only problem is that his parents don’t agree, and Daniel skips school to set his plans for fortune and fame in motion. Meeting the award-winning photographer Heimli will change his life, but not in the ways the nineteen-year-old young man expects.

At the age of four hundred thirty-six, Seldon has fed on more beautiful men than he can remember. Living in seclusion from the human world, humans are brought to the Incubi and Succubi as slaves to feed on. Amongst these slaves are the rare Untouchables. When Seldon is entrusted with the safekeeping of one, he has his work cut out for him—especially since this Untouchable gets on his nerves. And under his skin.

REVIEW:

First of all, I just have to say that I am quite fond of incubus story-lines, so this book started out on the right track for me. The story begins when the young model, Daniel, decides he’s going to go get discovered. He’s fed up with his parents talking about him going to college since he’s sure his looks can get him everything including fame. However, instead of landing a modeling job, Daniel is captured by a group of incubi. He quickly discovers that he is considered an untouchable, which means he doesn’t get worked over like some of the other less fortunate young captives. Even so, the fear of what could happen to him almost puts him over the edge.

Though this is the first book I’ve read from Meraki P. Lyhne, I had the pleasure of meeting the author this summer in Berlin, so I had a good idea about what to expect. All of the wonderful dark themes that I love so much were present in this book as well as a good healthy dose m/m/m erotica. I think the thing I loved the most was the sexual denial. Daniel, is deliberately excluded from all the incubus feeding going on in front of him. He considers himself straight, but after a while, he can’t deny being turned on by everything his captor does with other men. I wasn’t sure how things would play out for Daniel, so I was a bit shocked by the twist in the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

RATING: I loved it!

Review: Prince Lestat (The Vampire Chronicles #11) by Anne Rice

Prince Lestat (The Vampire Chronicles, #11)TITLE: Prince Lestat

SERIES:  The Vampire Chronicles #11

AUTHOR:  Anne Rice

PUBLISHER: Random House LLC

LENGTH: 458

BLURB:

The vampire world is in crisis – their kind have been proliferating out of control and, thanks to technologies undreamed of in previous centuries, they can communicate as never before. Roused from their earth-bound slumber, ancient ones are in thrall to the Voice: which commands that they burn fledgling vampires in cities from Paris to Mumbai, Hong Kong to Kyoto and San Francisco. Immolation, huge massacres, have commenced all over the world.

Who – or what – is the Voice? What does it desire, and why?

There is only one vampire, only one blood drinker, truly known to the entire world of the Undead. Will the dazzling hero-wanderer, the dangerous rebel-outlaw Lestat heed the call to unite the Children of Darkness as they face this new twilight?

Anne Rice’s epic, luxuriant, fiercely ambitious new novel brings together all the worlds and beings of the legendary Vampire Chronicles, from present-day New York and Ancient Egypt to fourth-century Carthage and Renaissance Venice; from Louis de Pointe du Lac; Armand the eternally young; Mekare and Maharet; to Pandora and Flavius; David Talbot, vampire and ultimate fixer from the Secret Talamasca; and Marius, the true child of the Millennia. It also introduces many other seductive supernatural creatures, and heralds significant new blood.

REVIEW:

It’s been so long since I’ve read something from a mainstream author, but considering Anne Rice was my first experience with reading M/M, I’m always up for reading her books. However, it’s been so long since I read a book in her Vampire Chronicles that I felt a little bit lost at first. Despite not remembering everything from the previous books, there was enough recapping that I was able to follow the story completely. In fact, the first part of the book is mostly introducing a lot of vampires from earlier books as well as vampires new to this volume. I was quite fond of the story line with Lestat’s adoption of the mortal girl, Rose as well as some of the new vampire intros. Toward the middle of the book, they all come together to resolve the central issue, which is the voice and the strange mass killings of vampires happening all over the globe.

Overall, this book was great and would be a nice end to the series. Though it kept my interest and brought tears to my eyes more than once, it wasn’t spectacular and moving like some of the earlier chronicles. I guess this might be said of any book that is a wrap up type story, but another thing was that it was set in modern times which made it lack the romance of her earlier volumes. Overall, I think the biggest drawback was the slower pace, but with so many characters and so many converging story lines, it was to be expected. I guess reading this book was more of a nostalgia thing for me. I still love Anne Rice’s writing and see the appeal of the worlds she builds, but I’ve read so many awesome m/m authors since I first started this series that I think my tastes have changed. Her style of subtle sexuality was an excellent introduction to the world of m/m, but now I prefer more intense and erotically charged works. I guess I’ll have to go back and read some of my favorites from her in order to know for sure. For anyone who’s a fan of Anne Rice, I recommend reading this book. However, if you haven’t read her before, it’s best to start with the first few books in this series.

Review: Puppy by R. Phoenix #MM #DarkErotica #Dystopia

TITLE: Puppy Puppy

AUTHOR:  R. Phoenix

PUBLISHER: Self-Published

LENGTH: 61 Pages

BLURB:

While other vampires glut themselves on the rewards of a world where humans are little more than food or entertainment, Liam has found himself bored with the new status quo. An attempt to alleviate his boredom brings him to Caleb, a man who’s willing to do what it takes to get out of the slums–even if it means becoming something less than human.

REVIEW:

This was a short but delicious story. Since I’ve read a few of the author’s books set in the same world, it was very easy for me to fall into this book. Puppy begins with the four hundred-year-old vampire, Liam, out on the prowl for something to fit his tastes. In his world, human’s have pretty much lost their appeal, but when he finds Caleb, he sees the potential in him. Though Caleb is bisexual and a top when it comes to men, he’s quite turned on by all the demeaning things Liam wants to do to him.

Though I’m not that into puppy play, the way R. Phoenix presents it in this book makes it very appealing. I like that how Caleb is taken without given a choice about it, but he’s not so reluctant because everything Liam does to him is so arousing. Overall, this story was great. I was a little bit surprised when it ended, so my only complaint is that I wanted to see more of them together. I recommend this book to anyone who loves M/M Dark Erotica and fantasy.

RATING: I liked it!
